Monitormideast.com and/or Monitor Mideast is a collective effort by young professionals and students from the region aiming to improve public visions and policy on the region. The website attempts to reach the outside world by translating and writing all material into the current lingua franca, giving the general public an indepth look into news and television from Middle Eastern countries with a focus on the political dimensions of Islam. Monitor Mideast differs from traditional media because of its unique edge transcending language barriers written by people from neighboring countries. Website content is fully independent without editorial influence from government, corporation or interest groups.
The publication section contains articles written by columnists who are not employed directly by Monitor Mideast. MonitorMideast.com is not responsible for the statements made in this section or elsewhere. Articles are screened for editorial standards though not subject to censorship. Monitor Mideast fully distances itself from promoting terrorism, hate speech, extremism, racism by translating the various television broadcasts or adding editorials. Selecting media or news segments are done on the basis of public interest probability, sensationalism and educational substance.
Future prospects: In the future we seek to publish a wide variety of translated television segments with English subtitles. Monitor Mideast has the ability to record, edit and publish various forms of (Middle East and North-African) television media. Resources of coverage include in-house recording capabilities from Badr C2/3/4, Arabsat 2B/2C/3A, Hot Bird 2/6/7A/8 and Nilesat.
